Baked with Love Inspired by Mama

The seed for Selena’s Gourmet was planted decades ago in Mama’s kitchen back in Jamaica. Every Christmas, Mama would bake her delicious Jamaican rum cakes. The scent filled the house, and the joy of licking the spoon or wiping the bowl with my little fingers are memories I still treasure to this day.

Baking is in my blood. It’s my passion, but it’s also hard work. Long days, late nights, and a constant demand for discipline and precision. In the beginning, it felt overwhelming. But as I honed my skills, something beautiful happened: I began to feel more connected to my Mama. Especially when I bake her delicious rum cakes. I can feel her presence, and in my mind I can hear her cheering me on, saying… “you got this sweetie. “ It brings a smile to my face and fills my soul with peace and joy.
